Web Development & Analysis
My latest web project has been the ongoing development of the website for the literary project, New Acquisition. In addition, I am currently working as the Online Marketing Manager for The New York Academy of Sciences.
I have recently been doing a great deal of work with web analytics tools, including Google Analytics and WebTrends. Future projects will make use of these analytics tools to inform development and strategic decisions for my own projects as well as the companies that I work for.
Prior to working on the above I developed sites for ongoing scientific research projects affiliated with the Carnegie Institution as well as a handful of smaller web projects. As the Web & Publication Coordinator at the Carnegie Institution's Department of Terrestrial Magnetism I gave the site a complete overhaul, introducing a new design as well as a new logical structure which employs a PHP-based content management system (CMS) for the maintenance and organization of the site.
Experience & Skills
An experienced web developer, webmaster, analyst, and online marketing manager (including the management, coding, and sending of email campaigns) my current interests and experience focus on the integration of analytics into development and business decisions. In addition, I have long been a proponent of using open-source CMS solutions (formerly with Mambo, currently with WordPress) to update and reconfigure HTML-based sites, allowing multiple users without advanced web skills to operate and update the site. I have trained numerous individuals on the use of Mambo, HTML and other web applications, as well as web analytics tools.
I have designed, developed, and/or webmastered for two scientific institutions, a private museum, a research group funded by the US Dept. of Energy, research projects supported by NASA and the National Science Foundation, in addition to private individuals and organizations.
